Marc A. Best Jr., 29, of Cherry Creek, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2025, in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. MDT, Thursday, June 12, 2025, at the Cherry Creek Gym, Cherry Creek.
Burial will follow in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cemetery, Cherry Creek. A wake service will be 7:00 p.m.,
Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the gym, with a procession from the 2-mile hill east of town at 4:00 p.m.
Marc A. Best, Jr. was born January 3, 1996, in Pierre, SD, to Marc Sr. and Inez M. (Taken Alive) Best. He was
the youngest of five children and was always helpful and an outgoing guy. Marc lived with his Grandpa Nathan
and stayed with his grandma, June Little Shield, and later moved to Pierre with his mother. Marc called
Grandma June every day.
Marc attended school at the Cherry Creek Mennonite School and the Rapid City South Park Avenue School. He
liked video games, drawing, painting, watching football, riding horses and fishing.
Marc is survived by his siblings: Jazmines Duarte, Corbin, Amber, and Krista Best; grandma, June Little Shield;
and many grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents: Peter Taken Alive and Mary Ann Little Shield
(Taken Alive); grandparents: Etta Taken Alive and Mrytle and Theophile Little Shield; uncles: Shawn and
Fredrick Taken Alive; auntie, Mary Lou Taken Alive; and many others.
