PIERRE, SD – Shirley Ann Bonhorst, 89, of Pierre, SD died Sunday, June 23, 2025 at Edgewood Senior Living in Pierre.

Funeral service will be 10:30am on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Lutheran Memorial Church in Pierre.

Burial will be at Scotty Philip Cemetery in Fort Pierre, SD.

Shirley Ann Webber was born in Fort Pierre on April 23, 1936 to Paul and Irene (Gascoigne) Webber. She grew up on a ranch in Stanley County while attending country schools and then later, graduating from Stanley County High School.

Shirley married Paul B. Bonhorst on June 3, 1954. This marriage was blessed with two sons, Duwayne and Brad.

Paul and Shirley farmed and raised their family in rural Hughes County. Besides being a farm wife, Shirley worked for Weight Watchers in several positions for 30 years. She also volunteered at the Hospice Thrift Store.

When they retired from farming, Paul and Shirley resided in a townhome in Pierre for a few years prior to moving into their current residence at Edgewood Senior Care.

She was a dedicated member of Lutheran Memorial Church in Pierre for several years. Shirley also enjoyed being a member of DeGrey Area Helping Hands Club.

Grateful to have shared in Shirley’s life are her husband of 71 years, Paul; sons, Duwayne (Theresa) Bonhorst of Viborg, SD and Brad (Barb) Bonhorst of Fort Pierre, SD; two grandchildren, Bryan Bonhorst of Pierre and Tara Bonhorst of San Francisco, CA; four great-grandchildren, Gibson, Hazel, Kalliope, Willow and one sister, Virginia (Bob) Chapin of Gillette, WY.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Webber; sister, Paula Spraw and grandson, Casey Bonhorst.

Memorials may be directed to Countryside Hospice of Pierre.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of Isburg Funeral Chapel in Pierre.
