It may be too early to say the Twins have completely shaken the slump that was 11 losses in 12 games. However, they are certainly making a case for that as they have now ripped off three straight wins, including last nights 4-1 victory over the first place Detroit Tigers. The Tigers have been one of, if not the hottest team in the MLB stretching their lead in the AL Central to double-digits which is the largest in the league between first and second. But the Twins, sensing how important this series could be, carried the little bit of momentum they carried out of the Mariners split into this and got the all-important win.
The Twins scored one run in four straight innings spanning from the fourth through the seventh, and got another gem out of their starter David Festa, who went 5.2 IP while just surrendering two hits. One of the highlights of the game was Byron Buxton doing what he does best and hitting a homerun to left that traveled 425-feet. The rest of the Twins runs coming from small ball including a sacrifice bunt from Willi Castro to score the teams fourth run.
The Twins can now win the series in the afternoon start today, first pitch set for 12:10 CT. You can listen to today’s game and all Twins games all season long on KGFX 1060 AM and 103.1 FM in the Pierre area.
