The Twins might have snapped out of the funk they were in that was the entire month of June. After winning just one series last month, the Twins finally snapped the drought taking two out of three from the Rays over the weekend. After yesterday’s off-day, they continued to roll against one of the best teams in baseball by hanging and eight-spot while also getting a gem out of starter Simeon Woods-Richardson on the bump.
Woods-Richardson threw 5.0 IP of two-hit baseball while giving up no earned runs and striking out four. The Twins offense scored two runs in the first inning, and then the game went silent until the eighth inning when the Twins scored six runs in the bottom of the frame. Minnesota saw three swings leave the park in the eighth with Ryan Jeffers, Willi Castro and Harrison Bader all hitting homeruns. The Twins improve to 44-47 and still sit second in the AL Central, 14 games behind the Detroit Tigers.
The Twins will look to win the series tonight against the Cubs at 6:40 PM CT and will have David Festa on the mound. You can listen to the game live on KGFX 1060 AM or on 103.1 FM in the Pierre area.
