PIERRE, SD – A Memorial Celebration Open House will be held for Ken on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at the American Legion Cabin from 1:00-3:00pm. Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Kenneth Cash, Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather passed away June 19th, 2025. Ken was born on September 5th, 1936 in Crossville, AL. He grew up on a farm in rural Crossville. Ken attended school in Crossville AL and graduated from Crossville High School in 1954.
Ken went into the Airforce following high school and retired after 21 years of service in 1975. He then spent the next two years dedicating his time to his children. He began a career with the State of South Dakota in the Department of Revenue and transitioned to Highway Patrol. Years later he transitioned to the Department of Criminal Investigation from which he retired in 2001.
During his time at the Department of Revenue, he met the love of his life Joan. They were united in marriage in 1980 and blended a family of six. He was a devoted husband to Joan until her passing in 2011. He missed her greatly in his life.
Ken enjoyed hunting and fishing in the Pierre area and was always interested in the neighborhood kids’ activities, especially baseball. In November of 2015, he moved to the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport, MS, where he lived out his life.
Grateful for the gift of sharing his life are his children; Mona Smith (Larry) of Fort Pierre, Denise Harford (Jerry) of Pierre, Cynthia Rall (Lynn) of Forbes, and Kenneth Cash of WA; his grandchildren Sarah, Taylor and Nicole Smith, Spencer Rall (Kinsey), Kirsten Kukla (Matt), Parker Rall (Addison); and great-grandchildren Stetson Rall, Gracie Rall and Crew Kukla. Ken was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Joan.
