Pierre Elks Lodge #1953 will host its annual Hoop Shoot starting at 5 p.m. on Dec. 7 at the St. Joseph’s School gym. The contest is free and open to boys and girls ages 8-13. Each participant will take 25 free throws, and the top scorer in each division will advance to the State Hoop Shoot in Pierre on February 7.
Registration will begin at 4:30 p.m. CT and the shooting schedule is as follows:
• 5 p.m. 8-9 year old girls and boys shoot
• 5:45 p.m. CT: 10-11 year old girls and boys shoot
• 6:45 p.m. CT: 12-13 year old girls and boys shoot
Shooters can register up to five minutes before their age group. The age group is based on the child’s age on April 1, 2026. The Hoop Shoot is an annual, signature kids program sponsored by the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, which a national fraternal organization over 150 years old.
