Fort Pierre to have June 2 elections for mayor, Ward I alderman and Ward III alderman

The City of Fort Pierre will have three races on the June 2, 2026, election ballot– mayor, alderman for Ward I and alderman for Ward III.

Incumbent Mayor Gloria Hanson is being challenged by current Ward I Alderman Greg Kenzy.

Ward I incumbent Alderman Larry Cronin is being challenged by Kevin Tiger and Ward III incumbent Alderman Rick Cronin is being challenged by Kristin Gabriel.

In Ward II, Scott Deal did not file petitions to seek re-election. Mike Jacobson is the only candidate to submit paperwork to fill that position.

All of these are two-year terms.

The Fort Pierre Chamber of Commerce will host a Candidate Forum at the Pat Duffy Community Youth Involved Center in Fort Pierre (19 East Main Street) on Thursday, April 23, 2026, beginning at 6pm CT.

These Fort Pierre city office candidates, along with all candidates seeking election for Stanley County School Board, Stanley County Sheriff, Stanley County Commission, District 24 Senate and District 24 House are invited to participate.

Jody Heemstra with DRG Media Group and Zach Nelson with Riverfront Broadcasting will moderate the forum.
