Recently, Special Olympics South Dakota staff traveled to Spearfish to begin planning for the State Summer Games in May. While there, we made a quick stop for breakfast and were so glad we did!

Thank You, USD Dental Hygiene Students

This semester, over 30 University of South Dakota dental hygiene students accessed the Special Olympics e-learning portal to watch the video “Introduction to Intellectual Disabilities”.

Several students then put this knowledge

to practical use by attending our SE Area and State Basketball Tournaments.

These interactions will serve our athletes and these young professionals well once they enter the workforce.

We are grateful for this long-standing partnership with USD and its Dental Hygiene students.

Applications are open to join us on the fan bus heading to the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minnesota in June!

The fan bus will make a one-day trip to Minneapolis on Monday, June 22, 2026.
