MILLER, SD – Patrick Wade Towers, 64, of Miller and formerly of Sioux Falls, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.
Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 17, 2026, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blunt. Following the burial, refreshments will be served in the commons room of the Highmore Manor Apartments.
Patrick was born at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, Kansas, to Dennis Towers Sr and Doralyn (Waldner) Towers on November 27, 1961. He grew up primarily in Lebanon, South Dakota, attending Lebanon Elementary and Hoven High School. He continued his education in Fairbanks, Alaska, becoming an EMT. He received his associate’s degree in industrial Refrigeration from Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon, and a horticultural certificate at Southeast Tech in Sioux Falls, SD.
Patrick had many hobbies, including woodworking, gardening, and reading, and he enjoyed cooking for family and friends and often exchanged recipes with his favorite cousins. He often said he had no regrets; he did everything he ever dreamed of and went everywhere he wanted. For example, he traveled with a carnival, he worked at Denali National Park & Preserve, was a commercial fisherman in the Gulf of Alaska, and in the Bering Sea as a longliner fisherman. He was a roughneck in the oil fields, a seismographer looking for oil and gas, he was a ranch hand in Montana, worked construction in various places, and eventually owned his own vending machine business in Sioux Falls, SD.
Patrick loved his time in Alaska and had the best stories of his time there. He truly lived life to the fullest.
He is survived by his mother, Doralyn Gabriel of Miller, SD; four brothers: Forrest L. Towers II of Gillette, WY, Dennis (Sam) Towers Jr. of Desmet, SD, Jacob William Towers of Highmore, SD, and Aaron Dempsey of Rapid City, SD; two sisters: Sherri Dittman of Highmore, SD and Sandra (David) Low of League City, TX.
He was preceded in death by one nephew, Forrest L Towers III, and his father, Dennis Towers Sr.
Special thank you to Andrew Cole and Steve Heisel for their help and support.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Patrick’s arrangements.
