PIERRE, SD – Gladys Gertrude (Meyers) Bellander, aged 91, passed away peacefully at her home in Pierre, SD, on April 7, 2026.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, April 9, 2026, with a 7:00 PM prayer service at Isburg Funeral Chapel in Pierre. Her funeral service will follow at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the same location. Gladys will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Pierre, SD.

Born on October 3, 1934, in Washburn, ND, to John Meyers and Hattie Hartle. Gladys married LaWayne Bellander on December 28, 1996, in Pierre, where they built a life together filled with love, laughter, and games of cards, which she often won. Her career as a housekeeper was just one aspect of her busy life. She was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary, DAV, and Moose Lodge. Gladys also had a coffee club, enjoyed playing bingo, and frequent visits to casinos.

Her family was her pride and joy, evident in the countless family cookouts she loved organizing. Gladys leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter with her husband, LaWayne; children, Rose (Dallas) Morin, Bonny Keplin, Darrel Curtis, Cindy (Carl) LaVallie, and Curt Curtis; step-children, Dawayne Bellander and Dulcie (Tom) Stotts; and sister, Bertha Tobias. She was a cherished grandmother to 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, sons John and Jim Herra, her brothers George, Bill, and Fred, and sisters Angeline Evenson, Betty Meyers, Mary Shull, Eldora Meyers, and Bev Meyers.
