Pierre Governor Softball picked up their second win of the season to improve to 2-1 on the year Tuesday afternoon thanks to some good offense, and some great pitching from senior McKenzi Flottemeyer. In the 7-3 win, Flottmeyer delivered a marvelous outing that consisted of 12 strikeouts along with no walks and just three hits.
The Governors fell behind in the third inning 2-1, but their bats quickly turned that around in the fourth inning when they put their first four hitters on base leading to a Micah Buffalo RBI to tie it at two. Ava Nelson and Millie Johnson also helped pad the Govs lead hits that would plate runs, and the Governors would not look back from there.
Watertown would add one more run, but Flottmeyer was able to put the finishing touches on her complete game and secure the Govs second victory of the year and move above .500.
The Govs will turn around quickly and play Brookings on Thrusday at 4:00 PM CT.
