Starting this June, Oahe Child Development Center in Pierre will have a new Director and Program Administrator.

Bill Kaiser will be joining Oahe Child Development Center (OCDC) as the new Director. He brings 31 years of experience in education, serving students, families, and staff in a variety of roles across South Dakota.
Kaiser began his career in Winner, SD, where he spent 15 years as a classroom teacher, coach, Special Education Director, High School Principal, Athletic Director, and Elementary Principal. He later moved to Pierre, where he served as Principal of Jefferson Elementary School for 15 years. Most recently, he worked at Crow Creek Tribal School as Elementary Principal and Director of Special Education.
Kaiser earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees from Northern State University and later completed his Specialist/Superintendent degree at the University of Sioux Falls. He is passionate about working with students, families, and staff to ensure every child has the opportunity for a strong educational foundation.
Kaiser and his wife, Kimberlee, have four children. Their son Brevin and his wife, Brianna, own Larkspur Landing and Kusler Klinics. Their daughter Chloe is a 6th-grade math teacher, and her husband Brandon works at Fisher Rounds & Associates. Ayvrie is a dental assistant, and their youngest, Cade, is finishing his sophomore year at Northern State University.
Kaiser is looking forward to joining the outstanding team at OCDC and continuing to support a positive, engaging, hands-on learning environment for children. He is replacing Sue Glodt, who is retiring.

Terri Mehlhaff will serve as OCDC’s new Program Administrator. She holds degrees in Early Childhood Special Education and Elementary Education from Black Hills State University and has more than 20 years of experience in education. She is currently serving as the Education Specialist at OCDC.
Mehlhaff has taught early childhood special education as well as grades 3 through 6. She later earned a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a Specialist degree in PK–12 Administration. Her leadership experience includes roles as an Elementary Principal, Special Education Director, and Title I Coordinator.
In addition to her work in schools, Mehlhaff has experience with the South Dakota Department of Education, Manager of Educational Partnerships with Collaborative Classroom, and serving as a childcare director. Her passion has always been working with preschool-aged children and serving the families in our community.
Mehlhaff lives in Pierre with her husband, Mike, and their son, Johnathan, who is a freshman at Riggs. She also serves on the boards of the South Dakota Association for the Education of Young Children and the South Dakota Humanities Council.
