A honey company based in Winner, South Dakota, has issued a voluntary recall because containers could contain stainless steel dust/flakes or shreds of plastic.
According to the Food and Drug Administration website, Dakota Honey Company (859 W 9th St) issued the recall April 4, 2026, for some of its 4 ounce and 12 ounce containers sold between Dec. 19, 2025, and April 3, 2026. In addition to the honey being sold at retail locations in South Dakota, Florida and Georgia, it was sold nationwide through internet sales. The FDA website says Dakota Honey Company is using several methods to contact its customers to notify them of the issue.
The FDA officially assigned a Class II– or moderate– risk level to the recall on May 8, 2026.
