Unofficial results from Tuesday’s (June 2, 2026) primary election have Gary Nickerson winning the three-way Republican primary for Stanley County Sheriff. Nickerson received 514 votes to take 49% of the total votes cast. Greg Swanson followed with 309 votes and Dustin Baxter took 233 votes.
For the Stanley County Commission District 3 Republican primary, incumbent Dana Iversen received 93 votes to beat Darby Nutter who got 84 votes. In the Stanley County Commission District 5 Republican primary, challenger Chris Carter earned 177 votes to beat incumbent Gary Grittner who received 113 votes.
In the Hughes County Commission Republican primary, the three incumbents were the top vote getters to each be reelected. Rob Fines had the most votes with 2332, followed by Connie Hohn with 2237 and Bill Abernathy with 2109 votes. Pat Steber received 1261 votes.
None of these races have challengers for the November general election, so providing that all wins are confirmed during the respective election canvasses, each candidate will take their oath of office in January 2027.
