South Dakota marking Forever 605 Day on June 5

Friday (June 5) is Forever 605 Day in South Dakota– a nod to the state’s one and only area code, 605.

On Forever 605 Day, Travel South Dakota invites residents and travelers alike to appreciate what makes South Dakota remarkable. The campaign centers on:

• Supporting local businesses

• Exploring beyond the well-known landmarks

• Honoring culture, such as the state’s Indigenous, Old West and Pioneer roots

• Preserving nature and the beautiful outdoors

Secretary of the South Dakota Department of Tourism Jim Hagen says Forever 605 Day is a chance for all of us to celebrate to what makes South Dakota special. He encourages people to venture off the beaten path and explore all corners of the state.

Travel South Dakota’s passport program is offering double points for each check-in on June 5, a great opportunity to explore and earn extra awards. Share your South Dakota story on social media with #Forever605 and inspire others to experience and protect the 605.
