Delbert “Del” Christensen, 95, passed away Thursday September 17, 2020 at his residence in Broomfield, Colorado.
A memorial service will be held in Arvada, Colorado on September 23. Burial services will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 10:00 A.M, at the Cresbard Cemetery with military honors.
Delbert was born on July 11, 1925 to Martin and Bertha (Hansen) Christensen in Faulkton, South Dakota. He graduated from Faulkton High School in 1943, worked on the family farm, and served in the Korean War. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he married Eileen Wherry in 1953. They worked on the family farm until 1967, when they moved to Denver with their five children.
Del worked for Sundstrand Aviation as a tool grinder for several years and owned and operated two car washes in the Denver area, each with a gas station. The skills he learned repairing farm equipment served him well throughout his life. After the businesses were sold, Del worked as a driver for the Cleo Wallace Center in Westminster.
Del is survived by his children: Mark of Thornton, CO and grandson Andrew; Matthew of Westminster, CO; Dana (Lynn) of Littleton, CO and grandsons Ryan Volz, Joshua, and Jonathan; Linda Sanchez-Steinke (Dave Steinke) of Thornton, CO and grandchildren Stephen Sanchez, and Stephanie Sanchez; Lorna (Bert) Andrews of Westminster, CO and grandchildren David, Michael (Jill), Timothy, and Beth; sisters-in-law Donna Roth of Miller, SD and Mavis Wherry of Santee, CA.
He was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers, Victor and Elroy.
