The situation continues to be evaluated and monitored, but the Casey Tibbs Foundation says recent ground movement on portions of their property in Fort Pierre does not pose an immediate threat to the Casey Tibbs South Dakota Rodeo Center building.
Since identifying the movement, the Foundation has been working closely with local, state and private entities to assess the situation and evaluate any potential hazards. The museum and event center continue to be open for normal business operations, unless otherwise announced.
Due to the shifting ground, the Casey Tibbs Foundation says areas outside of designated pathways may present safety hazards. Public safety is their highest priority, so they ask that all visitors stay on designated sidewalks and walkways while on the property and visit only during normal business hours.
The Foundation also reminds the public that the property is privately owned. Entering restricted areas, leaving designated walkways or accessing the property outside of normal business hours without authorization constitutes trespassing and may be prosecuted accordingly.
Conditions are being monitored around the clock. The Foundation is committed to keeping visitors, staff and community members informed and will provide updates as new information becomes available.
