A disaster response crew consisting of three staff members and 15 offenders from the South Dakota Department of Corrections Sioux Falls Minimum Center were deployed to Harrisburg Monday (July 27, 2026) to assist with cleanup efforts following weekend storms.
State Corrections Secretary Nick Lamb says an additional DOC crew has been requested and will begin assisting with cleanup efforts in Hartford Tuesday (July 28).
“Our crews remain ready and willing to help,” said Lamb. “They will assist with the removal of debris from streets, parks, and boulevards as long as they are needed.”
Earlier this month, DOC crews concluded assistance with storm cleanup in the Highmore and Huron areas that resulted in more than 2,700 hours worked.
