Funeral services for Donna Holybear, 79, of Ft. Yates will be at 11:30 AM, Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Ft. Yates. Inurnment will be Wednesday September 30, 2026 at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis. A prayer service will be at 7 PM Monday at the church. Donna passed away Monday, September 21, 2026, at Miller Pointe Care Center in Mandan. Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge is in charge of arrangements.

Donna Jean Holybear was born January 31, 1947, to Tony and Gertrude Holybear. Donna lost her father when she was a small child. Donna did not like school but went anyway. In 1966, Donna enlisted in the US Army, became a nurse and served over in Vietnam. She returned in 1969, and she never talked about what she saw over there. Donna returned as a Sergeant. Donna worked at Fort Meade Veterans Hospital in Sturgis SD. She also worked at the Pine Ridge, SD, hospital and worked and retired from Fort Yates Indian Health Services. Donna resided in Kenel SD, until 1980, when she, her mother and son, moved to Fort Yates. The last remainder of her years were spent at Miller Pointe until her passing.

Donna is survived by her son Michael K. Crow Feather, one daughter-in-law Celie Crow Feather, one sister Verlyn Holybear, brothers Michael Grey of Rapid City and Thomas Pheasant of McLaughlin, granddaughter Madison Crow Feather of Fort Yates, ND, and grandsons Kristoff Crow Feather of Fort Yates, ND, and Ashton Crow Feather of Bismarck, ND.

Donna was proceeded in death by her mother & father Gertrude Marshall Holybear & Tony Holybear, sister Ladean Rainbow, brother Charles Holybear, nephews Delon Manley and Trevor Good Iron, and niece Joannie Holybear.
