The Pierre Governors wrapped up their regular season a week ago and awaited to see how the postseason brackets on both the boys and girls side would shake out. Thanks to some outcomes with other teams in the classification, the Governor Girls drew the number one overall seed in the girls bracket after a 11-1-1 regular season record. With the one-seed, they secure homefield advantage for the entirety of the postseason up until the State Championship in mid-October.
The Governor Boys would lock up the 15-seed with their 3-6-4 record and will go on the road. Their first opponent will be Watertown who has won 13 games this season and will certainly offer a tough test for the boys. The two played earlier in the regular season, and Pierre would fall 2-0 after two quick goals to start the match. It is a matchup that will be difficult for the boys to pull the upset, however, Sean Blanchette almost certainly feels like his team is playing better soccer than they were when they played back in late August. The two will play tomorrow (Tuesday, October 6th) at 5:00 PM CT in Watertown.
For the girls, they will host Rapid City Central in their first round draw on Tuesday. These two have not faced each other in regular season play in 2026, but Rapid City Central comes in with a 3-8-2 regular season record.
We will have the coverage for the girls game beginning tomorrow at 4:30 PM CT on River 92.7, match will begin at 5:00 PM. You can also watch this game live on DRGnews.com/river/.
