PIERRE, S.D. – On Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026, from 3 a.m. to approximately 4:30 a.m., construction crews will be removing the overhead sign bridge on U.S. Highway 14 (Sioux Avenue) between Pierre Street and Fort Street in Pierre.
East/west traffic on Sioux Avenue will be reduced to the center through lanes in the work area while crews prepare for the sign bridge removal. Sioux Avenue will then be temporarily closed while the sign bridge is being removed. During this time traffic will need to use an alternate route. The total closure time anticipated is 45 minutes.
After removal of the overhead sign bridge, the outside lane closures will remain in place for approximately one week to facilitate footing removal and sidewalk replacement. Commuters should proceed through the work zone at low speeds and be attentive for construction workers and equipment.
