Funeral services Barb Giese, 85 of Mobridge, SD will be 10:00 AM Saturday, October 31, 2020 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mobridge. Interment will be in the Glenham Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, October 30, 2020 at Kesling Funeral Home from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Barb passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Barbara Rose Rabenberg entered into eternal rest with her Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 in Sioux Falls, SD.
Barbara was born on July 13, 1935 to John and Rose Rabenberg at their Campbell County home just north of Glenham. She was baptized into faith at St. Jacobi Lutheran Church in Glenham, SD where she remained a faithful member until death. Barbara attended the Rabenberg School up through eighth grade. Her high school years were spent at Northwestern Lutheran Academy in Mobridge where she met her future husband.
Barbara was married on October 3, 1953 to Donald Giese of Watertown at St. Jacobi Lutheran Church in Glenham and then farmed for a brief time north of Watertown. Upon their arrival at their new farm north of Glenham, Donald was drafted by the Army which led them to San Antonio, Texas for two years. They returned to their previous home north of Glenham for six years and then moved to a farm Southwest of Selby for twenty years. She lived out her remaining years in Mobridge. Throughout her earthly journey Barb was a faithful Christian wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She loved a good hamburger and held a special place in her heart for her grandson, Gavin Hollenbeck, who faithfully sat by her in church, and a wonderful selfless helper and friend Ruby Johnson.
She is survived by her brothers, John and Ted Rabenberg, sisters, Laila Arndt and Marie Tucker, son, Gery Giese, and daughters, Janine Salverson, Kristi Schnaible, and Amy Sievert. Also blessing her life where eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father and mother, John and Rose Rabenberg, her brother, Don Rabenberg, her sisters, Dorothy Becker and Ella Frey, and her son Ron Giese.
