Maurice Trautman passed away November 30, 2020 at Highmore Health Care in Highmore, SD, surrounded by his family. Visitation will be 10:30 – 11:00 am on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Feigum Funeral Home with a funeral service at 11:00 am. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blunt, SD. Maurice Edward Trautman was born in Fairfax, SD on November 17, 1938 to Vearnetta (Cue) and William (Ed) Trautman. He grew up in Fairfax and after graduating from high school joined the U.S. Marines.
He married Carolyn Mattheis on October 6, 1962 in Pierre, SD. To this union three children were born: Kristina, Debra and Richard.
Maurice farmed for many years with his father-in law and his son. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughters Kris Trautman, Rapid City, SD and Deb (Lance) Peery, Blunt, SD, son Rick (Donna) Trautman, Pierre, SD; grandsons Konrad Trautman, Jake Trautman, Wyatt (Miranda) Trautman, Braeden Peery, Payton Peery; granddaughters Coral Simon, Courtney (Jay) Parmely, Cheyenne Trautman; great grandchildren Tristine, Isabella, Beckham, Reese; his siblings Connie (Ron) Benedict, Dorothy (Bob) Boes, DeEtta Del Vecchio, Terry Trautman, David (Wendy) Trautman, Robert (Lora) Trautman, Darlene Johnson; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, brother Duane and sister Marleen.
