Helmut “Tim” Stroeder, 74, of Java, passed away Monday, December 7, 2020, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen. Private memorial services will be held. Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge is in charge of arrangements.
Helmut “Tim” Stroeder was born on February 18, 1946 near Bayreuth, Germany to Gerhart and Hildegard (Eichner) Stroeder. On April 6, 1957, Tim and his family immigrated to Minnesota. He graduated from Osseo High School in Osseo, MN. In 1965 Tim became a US Citizen. Tim married Jaqueline Kabrick in Michigan in 1965. To this union two sons were born, Eric and Michael. They made their home in East Bethel, MN. Tim worked for the Anoka County Sheriff’s Department for ten years as a jailer and a detective. After the ten years at the sheriff’s department Tim went into construction work, building and remodeling houses.
In July 10, 1988, Tim married Susan (Holland) Dehn in Isanti County, MN. They moved around Northern Minnesota as Tim was remodeling houses and looking for new projects. In 1995 they moved to Selby before moving to outside of Bowdle, while Tim continued his construction business. They also wintered in California.
Tim had a deep passion for hunting and fishing. That was a big reason in moving to South Dakota. He also like to target shoot and work on reloading bullets.
Tim is survived by his wife, Susan of Java, two sons, Eric (Karrie) of Glenham and Michael (Felicity) of Melborne, Australia, grandchildren, Evan (Andra), Whitney, Naomi, Hannah, Harvey, Oscar, and Pippa, stepchildren, Teresa (Johnny) Troyer, Tracy (James) Roesler, and Ron (Kay) Dehn, step grandchildren, Miciah, Tucker, Clay, Aaron, Ronny, Cassandra, Camrin, Carson, Spencer, Bailey, Jada, and Mason, three sisters, Ulrike Knecht, Ingrid Liedtke, and Sieglide Kinter.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
