Celebration of Life for Kevin Jamerson, age 55 of McLaughlin, SD will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the Messiah Church, Rural Little Eagle. Inurnment will be at sea at a later date. Private family service and all Veterans are welcome, please bring your lawn chair, social distancing and face masks are required, temperature will be taken. Kevin passed away Friday, December 4, 2020 at the Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND. Kesling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Celebration of Life: Kevin James Jamerson (Kingman) was born July 12, 1965 in Fort Yates, ND to Theron “Everette” & Elizabeth (Amidst) Jamerson. The nickname was given to him by his Mom; beings he was the only boy in her life. During his younger days; Kevin attended Little Eagle Day School Pre-school and Grade School and completing his 8th Grade Graduation there. He stated his High School years at McLaughlin High School and finished with the Class of 1983. During his High School years; he excelled in Track and Cross Country making it to State in 1982 with his Team mates; Robert Taken Alive; Myron Uses Arrow; Paul Guggolz and the late Moses Jamerson. Kevin loved music, and sang with the school choir and participated in any school plays. Kevin loved to string his guitar; he was a big Elvis Presley fan; loved his songs. The love for singing led Kevin to be selected to participate in the “Universal Academy of Music” on June 27, 1983 in Princeton, New Jersey and did a performance at the Carnagie Hall In New York City; from there he performed at the Nations Capitol; Washington, DC on July 4, 1983; his love for singing took him on a Music Tour; where he had the opportunity to sing for the Pope in Rome, Italy; onto Paris, France; London, England; Geneva and Switzerland. He returned back to the US in July of 1983. Kevin was also part of the Messiah Church playing Santa one Christmas he played Santa with a cast on.
It was at this time, his Mother, Elizabeth was so proud of all his great accomplishments she honored him and had Joe Flying Bye give him his Indian Name: Hakikta Sni (Doesn’t look back; keeps going forward). Kevin was always looking for adventure; so the Fall of 83 he went with Uncle George & Juanita Iron Shield to Colorado and lived at a place called “Tent City”. He returned home in the Spring of 1984. To continue his Adventure in his young years; he joined the US Navy in the Fall of 1987; he always spoke of the many adventures and Port stops while of duty on the Open Sea. He loved being on the water. Kevin was also part of Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm until February 1991. His home port was Pearl Harbor; Honolulu, Hawaii. But served on the USS Ranger, his job on this carrier was a tech computer engineer and also Desert Strom and Desert Shield Veteran. Part of his Education he attended and Graduated April 23, 2004 from SIPI (Southwestern Indian Polytech Institute) in New Mexico also graduated from Sitting Bull College with a degree in welding
Kevin was a very humble man; during his younger years; he was always reading whatever book or magazine interested him; which led him to be the reader of his Bible. He had a hobby when he was young; he loved to take pictures; he took pictures of anything that captured his attention. His, Mom saw his interest and went out and bought him his own professional camera. Dad, recalls a memory; it was during the summer; a storm was brewing and the clouds looked beautiful; Kevin took his camera and went out and captured the sky; little did he know, when his pictures were processed; one; was a picture of Jesus in the clouds. Kevin loved to fish; go hunting and sharing his Navy stories.
Kevin was presently employed with the SRST Veterans Program under the Direction of Manija Hill and David Harrison.
Kevin life had everything he wanted and so much more a beautiful common law wife of 18 years; Tudee Veo and adopted her children as his Roxy Kyle Lace & Rony and when it was time he had eight beautiful grandchildren Ray, Renzo, Jazz, Tyler, Zack, Dusti Bell & Hunter & Mikki. He cherished all them with so much love not only he had such a great family.
This was a man of wonderful things he has done in his life not only successfully graduating from college. Kevin live a life that most people don’t do he was a man of kindness patience supportive and adventurous he was a hunter in the winter an a Pow/Wow Dad/Grandpa in the summer not only did he watch them all weekend but he also made and beaded some of their outfits but he is going to be missed from everyone he loved truly.

Kevin will be greatly missed by his dad, Everette; Brother and sisters; left to mourn his loss are: Lovey & girls; Steffe (Dave); Hope (Larry) & Susan (Steve) Defender, Therene (girls), one brother Roland. Kevin also leaves behind (14) biological Grandchildren, Elizabeth Winter, Jacari, Ari, Zacari, Tomi, Kenneth, Keenon, Cami, Kasten, Ava, Hazley, Carmine & Keyen. His God Daughter; (Niece) Kirajo; Nieces; Alicia, Jenni (Austin), Shay (Jerry), Shania (Kobe), Danira, Summer, Kadence, Autumn & Jenn. Nephews: Leon; Theron, Wilbur Jr. (Geraldine), Ashton & Julian (Daniel); Uncles: Joseph Charles; Frank & Geraldine & family; Paul (Elaine) Keeps Eagle; Special Aunts: Rose Tenosa & family; New Mexico & Ina McNeil & family; New York. Cousins; Jamie; Janel; Joelle & Alan (Uncle Jimmy).
Kevin is preceded in Death by his Beloved Mother, Elizabeth; Baby Sister, Charity; Recently lost Nephew; Ty Runninghawk; Grandmother & Grandfather; Grace & Theron (Big Bud) & Special Aunts; Arlene (Jordon) Hodgkiss & Deliah White Shield; Uncles: Kenneth; James & Theron Kingsley II (infant) & Uncle, Moses Jamerson.
