Prayer service for Marjorie Archambault, 77, of McLaughlin, will be 7:00 PM Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Kesling Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to service time at the Kesling Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at a later date in the McLaughlin City Cemetery. Marjorie passed away Friday, December 25, 2020, at Aberdeen Healthcare & Rehab.
Marjorie Edith Archambault was born on January 5th, 1943 to Sophie Running Hawk and Oscar Archambault in Black Horse, SD.
She was raised in Bullhead and Little Eagle, SD. She attended Little Eagle Day School where she graduated from the eighth grade. Next she went to Standing Rock High School where she graduated. She then gave birth to Roland David Archambault.
She went on to attend National College Business in Rapid City, SD for one year. After that she moved to Littleton, Colorado where she was employed by the BIA.
He met James Giroux in 1963, they later married in 1967 and returned to Standing Rock making their home in McLaughlin. To this union two children were born Jamie Giroux and James Robert Giroux. Where she began her employment with IHS.
In 1980 she moved to Albuquerque, NM, again working for the Indian Health Service. After a year she transferred to Aberdeen, SD working at the federal building in IHS. After a couple of years, she went to work at the Eagle Butte hospital in Medical records. Marjorie returned to Standing Rock living at Fort Yates as an administrative officer. During her time in Fort Yates she took custody of her granddaughters Jenny Archambault. Marjorie’s career then took her to Fort Belknap Montana IHS. She spent a few years there before moving to Fort Totten, ND as the Service Unit Director. This is where Marjorie finished her career after 37 years of service with the IHS.
Marge’s grandchildren were her world. She loved them with all her heart.
Marjorie is survived by one son Roland Archambault of McLaughlin, one daughter Jamie (Paul) Giroux, of Little Eagle, grandchildren; Jessie, James Giroux, Cami Guggolz, Jenny Archambault, Jebron Giroux, Jalynn Giroux, two great-grandchildren; Carmine Crow Ghost and Keyea Crow Ghost.
Sisters; Barbara (Happy) Archambault of McLaughlin, Phyllis Archambault of Bullhead and Donna (Ray) Fire Cloud of McLaughlin and Emaline Moran of Bear Creek, one special nephew, Ken Spotted Horse of McLaughlin and a special niece, Dawn Spotted Horse of Aberdeen, SD, her special cousin Barbara Archambault of Selfridge, ND.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her son, James Robert Giroux, brothers, Everett Archambault, Allen Archambault and Joseph Archambault, her parents; Oscar Archambault, Sophie Archambault, nephews, Micheal Iron, George Weasel and niece, Georgia Weasel.
