Funeral Services for Patricia Eagleshield age 67 of McLaughlin, SD will be at 11 AM, CT on Monday, January 11, 2020 at McLaughlin City Auditorium in McLaughlin, SD. Pastor Doug Wilkinson will be officiating. Burial will be in McLaughlin City Cemetery under direction of Oster Funeral Home of Mobridge, SD. Wake Service will be at 6 PM, CT on Sunday, January 10, 2020 at her home in McLaughlin, SD. Family and friends will gather at the Funeral Home on Sunday at 4 PM, CT to follow in procession to Eagleshield Residence for services. Patricia entered the Spirit World on January 1, 2020 at Mobridge Regional Hospital in Mobridge, SD. Oster Funeral Home is entrusted with services for Patricia Eagleshield.
Patricia Susan “Patti Sue” Eagleshield was born to Mildred White Mountain and Daniel Good Eagle on March 12, 1953 in Fort Yates, North Dakota. In her younger years she lived in Cheyenne River and later relocated with her family to Little Eagle, South Dakota. Where she attended the Little Eagle Day School and went on to attend high school back in Eagle Butte, South Dakota. That is where she met her best friend & husband Fritz Eagleshield Jr. They were joined in marriage after he returned from the military. During this time Patti & Fritz made their home in Cheyenne River while Patti worked for the Cheyenne River Tribal Court. After some time, they relocated their family several times to take advantage of educational & career opportunities. Places the family lived was Little Eagle, SD, Salinas CA, Tempe AZ, McLaughlin SD, St. Paul MN and finally made their permanent home in McLaughlin South Dakota.
Patti worked as a dispatcher for the City of McLaughlin Police Department, BIA Law Enforcement and her last place of employment was the Standing Rock Tribal Court as a Clerk of Court.
Patti received her Associates Degree from what is now the United Tribes Technical College. One that she was so proud of was that each of her children received a degree or a trade certificate.
Patti is survived by her husband of 54 years, Fritz Eagleshield Jrl, her children: Theresa Lynn, Brandon Joseph, Fritz Wallace III, Lynette Elizabeth (Lyle), Adrian Francis (Lillian), Lyndale Alberta. 37 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren each of whom Patti cherished and enjoyed watching them grow. She also enjoyed following her grandchildren to watch them play basketball, football or whatever sport they were participating in. Siblings: Martha Cameron, Yvette Cameron & family, Shannon Brown & family, Jerrica Cameron & family, Jasmine Cameron & family, Sinjin Cameron, Ed Brown Jr., Edwin “Tuffy” Brown, Everette “Buddy” Brown, Tiffany “Buffy” Brown, Marie Brown & family, Rachel Spotted Horse, Eilleen Brown & family, Ina McNeil & family, Cecelia Rose Tenoso & family, Keith Swalley, Sylvia Culbertson & family, Life long friends Kenneth Spotted Horse, Geraldine Agard. Patti was proceeded in death by her daughter Antonia “Toni” Eagleshield, grandson Damien Little Eagle, parents: Mildred White Mountain, Daniel Good Eagle and step-father Ed Brown Sr. Hattie Alfaro, Edwina Brown, Percy Good Eagle, William “Bill” Good Eagle Sr., Mary Hayes, Della Fairbanks, Rene Cameron Jr., Carl Cameron, Jared Wise Spirit and Julian Spotted Horse.
