Theodore Little Shield, 60, of Cherry Creek, passed away Friday, January 22, 2021 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. MST, Friday, February 5, 2021, at the Cherry Creek Blue Gym, Cherry Creek, SD. Burial will follow in the Congregational Cemetery, Cherry Creek. Wake services will be 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 4, 2021, at the gym. A procession will start at the 2-mile east of town at 4:00 p.m.
Theodore Lyle Little Shield was born June 18, 1960 in Eagle Butte, SD to Theophile Rudolph and Myrtle (Hale) Little Shield of Cherry Creek.
Theodore “Teddy” grew up in Cherry Creek where he attended school until graduating from Cheyenne Eagle Butte. He liked riding horses and helping his dad mechanic on vehicles. This is where his mechanic skills came from. Teddy loved to mechanic.
Teddy worked on “Summer Youth”, back then being called the NYC Program. He worked on building the Cherry Creek Blue Gym, the S-O-M program where he helped haul wood etc. He also worked on construction in the Pierre area where he made his home for a few years. He then moved to Rapid City and worked construction and operated heavy machinery. Following his time in Rapid City, he lived a few years in each Eagle Butte and Dupree before returning to Cherry Creek. He traveled to surrounding communities to work on people’s cars.
Theodore loved his children and grandchildren so much; he thought the world of them.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; his children: Teddy Little Shield Yellow Wolf, Nicole Eagle Chasing, Shannon Little Shield Romero, Randy, Randall, Tiffany, Theodore Jr., Rachel and Tabitha Little Shield; sisters: Valtina, June, and Nora Little Shield all of Cherry Creek; adopted sisters: Simone, Sonia, Elizabeth, Connie, Nancy, and Dee Little Hawk; brothers: Steven, Clyde, Norman Sr., Marlin, and Andrew; adopted brothers: Howard, Melvin, and Richard Little Hawk and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Teddy was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: MaryAnn and Judy Little Shield; brothers: Nathaniel and Maurice “Morris” Little Shield; his son, Tyson Little Shield; three angel grandsons: Niles Ray Little Shield, and Christopher and Christian Lawrence; adopted parents: Richard and Elizabeth Little Hawk and numerous others.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Teddy’s arrangements.
