The South Dakota House has sent a resolution calling for the impeachment of state Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg to a committee.
House Concurrent Resolution 7001 (HCR7001) was officially read onto the books at the start of today’s (Feb. 24, 2021) floor session.
House Speaker Spencer Gosch assigned the resolution to the House State Affairs Committee for it’s first official hearing.
Ravnsborg is charged with three misdemeanors following the death of pedestrian Joseph Boever the night of Sept. 12, 2020, west of Highmore. The 55 year old Boever was struck by Ravnsborg’s vehicle as he was walking toward Highmore on the north shoulder of the highway.
The South Dakota Department of Public Safety has released two videos showing Ravnsborg being questioned by Special Agents of the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Portions of the audio and video have been redacted because the Attorney General referenced confidential information that is not relevant to this crash investigation.
