Funeral services for Elenora Pfitzer, 100, of Mobridge will be at 10:30 AM, Monday, March 1, 2021 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mobridge. Burial will be at the Mobridge City Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Elenora passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021.
Elenora Katie (Landis) Pfitzer was born December 22, 1920 in Jackson Township (aka Red Top), Dewey Co. SD to John and Lena (Herman) Landis. Elenora was baptized February 27, 1921 and confirmed September 6, 1936 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Trail City, SD. She attended grade school in Trail City and Red Top. Later she attended NYA (National Youth Administration) in Timber Lake, SD and received a certificate in cooking. On April 23, 1944 Elenora married Emil Pfitzer at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mobridge, SD. To this union four children were born, Tim, Sandy, whom passed away in infancy, Patricia and Twyla.
Elenora and Emil made their home in Mobridge and during that time Elenora did housework until she began her career as a cook for the Northwestern Lutheran Academy where she worked until it closed in 1979. Elenora then stayed busy babysitting grandchildren and children of friends. She also loved to sew and quilt. Elenora sewed many gowns for weddings. She also made and sewed her daughter Pat’s wedding gown. She also crocheted tablecloths and afghans for her family. Cooking and baking were her enjoyment.
Elenora was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid.
Elenora is survived by children, Tim (Donna) Pfitzer, Pat Kramer and Twyla Pfitzer; 10 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are 2 sisters, Phyllis Prasek and Irene Walz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lena Landis, baby daughter, Sandra in 1946, husband, Emil in 2006, brothers, Lenhard, Oscar and Norman, sisters, Alma Skillingstad, Erma Wahl, Alvina Harp and son in law, Dwayne Kramer.
