The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (GFP) Department today announced that Bush’s Landing Lakeside Use Area is back in service. This access had been closed so a local contractor could complete an access road and extend the low-water boat ramp due to water levels.
“This is a very important ramp and launching point for anglers looking to fish Lake Oahe, and we’re happy to have this back in service for them,” said GFP Planning and Development Administrator, Adam Kulesa. “This was an extensive project, approximately 350 truck loads of material alone were needed to complete it.”
The contract to complete the work was for $535,100, which included 7,700 tons of total material.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience as we worked to get the project completed,” said Kulesa.

GFP also announced that they have transitioned to the low water ramp at the Little Bend Lakeside Use Area, resulting in three launching lanes. The high water ramp is out of service.
“We have been getting several questions regarding the ramps at Little Bend going out of service,” said Kulesa. “Little Bend’s low water ramps are up and running. Boaters and anglers will see no disruption in service.”
Additional work was also completed at Sutton Bay Lakeside Use Area. This ramp is now open with a dock on the primary ramp and the low-water ramp ready and usable without a dock. This ramp had been closed for five days so GFP could get the work completed as quickly as possible.
