It has been a strong stretch of baseball for Post 8 over the past few days. Over the last five games, Post 8 has won four of them including scoring a combined 49 runs in those contests.
After a Friday doubleheader sweep of Spearfish in games they won 15-2 and 10-0, they would split their set with Renner Post 307 Monday night at home in two thrilling ballgames.
Post 8 would lose game one Monday night 5-4 after giving up those five runs in the last three frames. It would have been easy to rollover, but Post 8 would bounce back strong in game two for a 7-4 victory.
In the win, Pierre would score three runs in the first inning thanks to a Will Eilers RBI single and some help from the Royals defense with an error. Renner would bounce back in the fifth inning after RBI singles from Sam Donohoe and Joey Laible made it 4-3.
The lead would be short-lived as Sutton Sonnenschein and Eilers manufactured some offense in the bottom half of the fifth to regain the lead. Pierre would hold on for the win as Ryker Edson would pick up the win on the mound. In the start, Bridger Babcock would give up just six hits and three runs in four innings of work.
Eilers was the top offensive catalyst going 2-3 and driving in three.
Post 8 will be back Wednesday night against Smittys Legion 2026 Aberdeen for a late afternoon doubleheader. Game one will begin at 3:00 PM CT with game two set to begin at 5:00.
