Tractor burns, starts grass fire north of Fort Pierre

A tractor catching fire caused a grass fire yesterday afternoon (July 13) north of Fort Pierre.

Volunteer Fire Department assistant chief Tye Odden says it was at the Nordstrom ranch about 7 miles north of town.

Odden says the mower was saved as was a vehicle nearby.

Odden says the weather and location of the fire were in their favor.
