BRANDON – A line drive three-run home run to right field by Bennett Dean in the bottom of the eighth inning Saturday gave Post 8 a 6-3 win over Watertown in the elimination bracket of the Class A Legion State Tournament at Aspen Park.
Maguire Raske doubled with one out in the Post 8 eighth. Cade Hinkle walked with two out. Dean then hit the first pitch from Watertown’s Easton Thury over the fence in right to win the game for Post 8 (25-18).
All of Post 8’s runs came on home runs. Hinkle hit a three-run homer to right field in the bottom of the first before Watertown scored two in the second inning and one in the third.
Isaac Polak, who entered the game in the top of the eighth, won in relief. Starter Lincoln Kienholz struck out eight in six and a third innings.
Post 8 will play another elimination game on Sunday against Harrisburg, scheduled for 2:30 PM.
