Funeral for Wayland Yellow Earrings age 50 of Little Eagle, SD will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 23, 2021, at the Blue Gym in Little Eagle, SD with Fr. Kim Fonder, Helene Martinez, Doug Wilkinson and Pastor Brady will be officiating. Burial will be in the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church Cemetery under the direction of Oster Funeral Home of Mobridge, SD. Family and friends are asked to gather at Oster Funeral Home on Saturday morning to follow in procession to Little Eagle at 9:30 AM. Wayland Yellow Earrings passed away on August 11, 2021, at Sandford Health in Fargo, ND due to natural causes.
Wayland Yellow Earrings was born on November 11, 1970, in Fort Yates, ND to Alvin and Ethelene (Kills Alive) Yellow Earrings. He had 5 siblings Emily, Marilyn, Adie, William, and Tyrone. Raised in Little Eagle, SD where he attended Head start and Day School. Then attended McLaughlin School where he played sports, ran cross country receiving numerous awards. He was part of the Bear Soldier Boxing Club. He loved to play softball, which he gained lots of friends and his on the road family. He met and married Charlene Long Feather on November 12, 1991, and from this union three sons were born Tyler, Forrest (Shante) and Lance (Shantoya) all Little Eagle, SD. He took part of two lives that also loved to call him dad, his stepchildren Leah Long Feather of McLaughlin, SD, and Evan (Karlee) Long Feather of Wakpala, SD. Everyone who knew Bucky, knew he had a good heart. He worked with the youth and traveled all over joining tournaments and had his team (Bucks Boys) whom he cherished.
Over the years he was employed in several places. He had lots of close co-workers who enjoyed his humor and remembered his smile every morning and he enjoyed being part of his family. Everyday he loved being wheeled to Marilyn’s for supper.
