Antoinette L. Cook-Bianas, age 64, of Cochiti Pueblo, NM, entered the Spirit World on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe, NM. Per her wishes, Antoinette was buried in the Cochiti Pueblo Traditional burial way in Cochiti Pueblo.
A Memorial Service to honor her life will begin at 12:00 PM, Saturday, September 25, 2021, at the CRST Bingo Hall, with Mother Ellen Huber, Shirley Dog Eagle and Enoch & Della Brings Plenty officiating. A luncheon will be served.
Antoinette L. Cook-Bianas was on February 17, 1957, at Rapid City, SD to Antoine & Lois (Miner) Cook, Sr. She grew up in Rapid City, went to school there and then attended Kicking Horse Job Corp, OLC College in Rapid City and later Sipi College in Albuquerque, NM.
It was while in Albuquerque that Antoinette met the love of her life, Bernard Suina. They were married in the Cochiti Pueblo Traditional Marriage ceremony, and they then made a wonderful life together for 17 years in Cochiti Pueblo, NM. He was at her side when she passed over into the Spirit World; she was laid to rest in Cochiti Pueblo, and per her wishes, she left this world in a beautiful Traditional Pueblo funeral ceremony. She loved the Cochiti Pueblo way of life and because of that she was buried with great dignity and respect by her Cochiti Pueblo family.
Antoinette loved playing bingo and enjoyed fund raising for the Pueblo children. She was also an excellent craftswoman, especially with her wonderful beadwork. Her husband Bernard was also a very skilled silversmith.
Antoinette had no children, but she did have the blessing of helping raise her nephew Shane Cook and niece, Lisa White Bear. She was a grandmother to many as well and all her grandkids loved her. She was very much loved by those who befriended her, and she had many friends in her life and travels. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Bernard, of Cochiti Pueblo, one brother, Harold (Pat) Hill, Jr. of Rosebud, SD. Four sisters, Mary Hill, Aberdeen, SD, Iris Hill-Dupris and Haroldine (Zane) Arpan of Eagle Butte and Barbara Hill of Sisseton, SD. Nephew, Shane Cook of Rapid City and Lisa White Bear of Eagle Butte.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Antoine & Lois Lillian (Miner) Cook, Sr., two sisters, Candace Jolean Cook and Parrish Denise Cook and one brother, Antoine “Tony” Cook, Jr.
Memorial service arrangements have been entrusted to Rooks Funeral Home of Eagle Butte, SD.
