Rick R. Hoefert, 71, of Seneca and co-owner of Hoefert Implement, passed away Monday, September 27, 2021 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, Aberdeen.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 1, 2021 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wecota with Pastor Colin Ford presiding. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Seneca. A prayer service will be 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 30, 2021 at the church with visitation one-hour prior.
Ricky Robert Hoefert was born March 1, 1950 in Faulkton, SD to Robert and Gladys L. (Swenson) Hoefert. He attended school in Faulkton, graduating in 1968. He went on to attend Denver Automotive and Diesel College.
Rick returned to Seneca to work for the family business, Hoefert Implement Inc., with his father and grandfather, which they started in 1951. He joined the South Dakota National Guard, serving from 1973 through 1976.
On July 7, 1974, Rick married Louise Kilber at Zion Lutheran Church, Akaska, SD. Rick and Louise made their home in Seneca, and they, along with his brother, Kirk, and brother-in-law, Jim, purchased Hoefert Implement, Inc. from his father in 1989. Rick carried on the passion of his family, having the ability to serve farmers from the local area, along with those throughout the United States.
Rick spent time serving on multiple boards throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed trap shooting when he could find time.
His memory will be cherished by his wife, Louise of Seneca; daughter: Gwen (Brent) Larson, White, SD and their children: Brianna and Cody Larson; son, Nathan (Melisa) Hoefert, Brookings; brother-in-law, Pat Pins, Mandan, ND; brother, Kirk (Sheila) Hoefert, Sioux Falls; sister, Kathryn (James) Bitzer, Seneca; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents; son, Eric Hoefert; sister, Barbara Pins; and nephews: Jeffery and Jared Bitzer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be directed to Oakland Cemetery, 201 Elm St, Seneca, SD 57473 or a local charity of your choice.
