Funeral services for Mark Cook Jr., 31, of Rapid City, SD will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 25, 2021 at the Presho High School Gymnasium in Presho, SD with burial in the Presho City Cemetery at Presho, SD.  Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Kennebec American Lutheran Church in Kennebec, SD.

In lieu of flowers memorials for Jaxon are preferred.

Mark Anthony Christopher Cook Jr. was born in Duarte, CA on May 28th, 1990 to Betty Wells and Mark Cook. He was raised and spent his childhood in Presho, SD, where as a child he was known to Skateboard with his friends and brother. He loved to go to the Presho pool during the summer, and enjoyed activities such as AAU wrestling, baseball, and cross country. Markie was also known pretty well by his teachers.

After graduating, Markie left Presho and moved to Rapid City, SD with the love of his life and high school sweetheart Kayla Hamer. After different jobs working in both the food industry and construction, he found his calling with Oglala Lakota College, where he worked as a GED Teacher/Tutor. In this time, he earned his Associates degree in Business and at the time of passing was on track to graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.

On October 24th, 2015 Markie became a father with the birth of his son Jaxon Alexander Cook. He loved being a dad and spending time with his son, and they enjoyed many outdoor activities together. They loved taking family vacations together to places like the Omaha Zoo, Denver Aquarium and Zoo, Minnesota aquarium and the Mall of America. Mark was planning to teach his son how to hunt with a bow and was already playing t-ball with him. Mark’s whole world was Kayla and Jaxon and they created a beautiful and joyful family life together.

Mark passed away on Sunday October 17th, 2021 as a result of an automobile accident near Rapid City, SD. Gratefully sharing his life with son Jaxon of Rapid City, SD; along with parents Betty Wells of Pierre, SD and Mark Cook of Presho, SD; his sister Tiffany Cook Sandoval and her husband David Sandoval of Las Cruces, NM; Nephew Taylor Cook or Pierre, SD; Niece Kaysea Cook Sandoval of Las Cruces, NM; Aunt Kim Morris of TN and Uncle Michael Morris of IL; Uncle David Wells of OK; his cousin Christina and her husband Jack Messenger of TN; Charles and wife Holly Wells of Pierre SD and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Preceding him in death was his fiancé Kayla Hamer. His brother Justin Cook, Grandparents Beatrice Wells, Charles Wells, Christina Morris and Pappa.
