Yesterday (Oct. 26, 2021) was Wallace R. Halverson Day in South Dakota and Capital City Campus in Pierre celebrated the occasion with an open house and building re-dedication.
Ron Woodburn was director of the former Capital University Center for about ten years during the time when Halverson was integrally involved in establishing what’s now the home of Capital City Campus.
Capital City Campus was founded in 1982 with a mission to meet post-secondary educational needs of students in central South Dakota. The Wallace R. Halverson Education Building was completed in 2009 and houses classrooms, offices, a lecture auditorium and a couple of board rooms.
Currently, Lake Area Technical College from Watertown and Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell offer classes at CCC.
