Five Stanley County students were local winners of the Patriot’s Pen essay contest sponsored by the local Veterans of Foreign Wars and Auxiliary Post #2038.
The nationwide essay contest, Patriot’s Pen, is open to students in grades 6-8. The students composed a 300-400-word essay on the 2018-2019 theme “Why I Honor the American Flag.” Winning entries were sent to district competition. The state winner will be announced next month.
Local winners were presented with a certificate and monetary award by Auxiliary President Mary Jenner and 1st Vice President Eileen Kramer.
