Lorraine Wright 87, of Mobridge passed away December 2nd at the Bowdle Nursing Home where she has resided for the past 18 years. Lorraine was born at home on the family farm 17 miles S.E. of Britton, SD to Laverne R. Johnson and Herman W. Price. Lorraine grew up on the family farm with her two brothers Arden (Sonny) and Kenny and three sisters Laurie, Barbara, and Norma. As a young lady her ambition was to become an airline stewardess, but she was talked out of it as her family thought it was dangerous. Lorraine grew up in a trying time during WW11 and whenever planes flew above, she was frightened, and everything was rationed. She grew up without running water and walking to school. Lorraine graduated high school in 1952. Her first job ever was working at a bank in Britton. She met her future husband William Richard Wright when she was 16. They would later be married in 1963. Lorraine and William Wright raised two children Joan Brockel and James (Jimmy) Wright. In her later years, Lorraine worked as a C.N.A in Oakes Good Samaritan Center. She loved her job as a C.N.A. and worked there for many years. She will be remembered for always being the most kindhearted mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend. She cared about many people and loved everyone. She also will be remembering for family gatherings, burning hotdogs, and growing many beautiful flowers in her yard.
