David Luke Bowen, 56, of Eagle Butte, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Monument Health, Rapid City.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. MST, Monday, December 6, 2021, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Eagle Butte, with viewing to begin at 8:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Eagle Butte Cemetery.
David was born February 3, 1965 in Rosebud, SD to Jessie American Bear. He was later adopted by a family in Kansas. He received his education at Raymore-Peculiar in Peculiar, KS. He continued on to pursue his law degree in Ohio.
David is a believer in the Lord. He spent his life spreading the good word of God’s love. He was a spirit filled Torah teacher at Sons Of Fire Ministries.
David was known as a simple man. He was a very talented artist. David enjoyed creating dream catchers, drums and carvings. David liked visiting his kola’s.
On March 14, 2021, with Pastor Jerome Slides Off officiating, he entered into holy bonds of matrimony with Constance Bird Necklace. David and Constance resided at the CRHA Manor in Eagle Butte.
He is survived by his wife, Constance Bird Necklace-Bowen, Eagle Butte; his children: Joseph C. Bowen, Rapid City, Cante’ Waste Bowen, Samara R. Bowen, Sh’many Bowen, and several takoja’s; stepdaughter, Cesca Black Bear; granddaughter, Cecelia Black Bear; adopted parents; three brothers in the Lord: Jerome, Lowell, and Randy Slides Off; brothers: Charlie Sitting Bull and Pierre Halsy; sister, Stacey Bowen; and sister-in-law, Carol Bowen.
He was preceded in death by his biological parents; brother, Oliver Theodore Bowen; and sister, Kerry Bowen.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with David’s arrangements.
