Funeral services for Billy Mae Peterson, 91, of Reliance, SD will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 17, 2021 at the Reliance United Methodist Church in Reliance, SD with burial in the Reliance Cemetery at Reliance.  Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain.

Billy Mae Peterson was born January 31, 1930 to Charles Edward and Naomi (Anderson) Schooler at Chamberlain SD, along with triplet sister Betty and brother Bernard. She was raised on the family farm North of the White River SE of Reliance SD in Lyman County, along with fourteen brothers and sisters. She attended the Walker School through the eighth grade.  On February 23, 1948, she was united in marriage to Ralph Fletcher Moulton. They made their home on the Moulton farm East of Reliance SD. To this union three children were born; Jane Beverly, Katherine Joyce and Albert Jesse.  Ralph passed away September 20, 1973.

On December 5, 1974, Billy Mae married Roland Peterson. She lived on the farm until April 2021 when she entered Sanford Care Center in Chamberlain due to health issues.  Over the years Billy Mae held many jobs including cook at the Reliance School, operating the Conoco Café in Reliance, and waitress and cook at the Rainbow Café in Chamberlain. She excelled at knitting, crocheting, tating, embroidering, rug making, quilting, and jig saw puzzles. Everywhere she went she took a bag with whatever project she was working on. She also always had a purse full of pictures of her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren that she would pull out and show people. She had an extensive doll collection and would also repair dolls.  She also loved to play cards, still winning games shortly before she entered the Care Center. She was active in the Reliance United Methodist Church in Reliance, Eastern Star and helped the Shriners at many Shrine Circuses.  She enjoyed animals especially her cats.

Billy Mae passed away December 9, 2021 at Sanford Care Center in Chamberlain.  Grateful for sharing her life are her husband Roland Peterson, daughter Katherine Joyce Berg, son Albert (Pam) Moulton, Grandchildren; Lawrence (Jodi) Jennings, Roger Jennings, Richard Jennings, Dawn Jennings, Robin (Chad) Vail, Monica (Gary) Volk, Jarod Berg (Sandy), Casey Moulton, and Eric (Lindsay) Moulton. Nineteen Great Grandchildren and seven Great Great Grandchildren. Sister Sylvia Thorstenson, brothers Newell Schooler, Larry Schooler, and Jack (Darla) Schooler. Preceding her in death were her parents, her first husband, daughter Jane Jennings, sons in law Larry Jennings and Gerald Berg; sisters Bonnie Alexander and Betty Ellis; brothers Robert, Lowell, James (Jimmy), Eddie, Dale, Calvin (Buddy), Bernard and Lionel.
