Ed Robbennolt, 82, of Gettysburg, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at his home following a short battle with cancer.
Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 3, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gettysburg, with Fr. Brian Simon presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the American Legion Post #135. Wake services will be 4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 2, 2022 at the church with visitation one-hour prior.
Edward William Robbennolt was born April 27, 1939, to Max and Mary (McDonnell) Robbennolt in Gettysburg, S.D. He grew up on the family farm southwest of town and graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1957. Following school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served two years in Germany.
Ed married Judith Jones on April 16, 1963, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gettysburg. They made their home in Gettysburg and he joined his father, and brother, in the family farming business.
Ed was active in his community and served on several boards including the Gettysburg School Board, Potter County ASCS committee, and Gettysburg Hospital Board.
His love of family, farming, and community were the focus of his life. He also enjoyed collecting and restoring vintage tractors, classic cars, and car racing. He was a talented metal craftsmen and master mechanic.
Ed is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judy: son, David (Alison) of Yuba City, CA, Daniel (Blanca) of Sioux Falls, and Brian (Rena) of Gettysburg; nine grandchildren: Lauren A. (Ryan) Caughlan, Kayla (Cory) Hughes, Jaicee Robbennolt, Ryan Robbennolt, Allen (Abby) Robbennolt, Jasen (Lauren) Robbennolt, Marysa (Sam) Van Voorst, Jenna Robbennolt, and Katie Robbennolt; and two great-grandchildren Mavilynn Thompson and Lauren J. Caughlan.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Max, and Mary; brother Gene; sister-in-law Donna; and great-grandson Adam.
