Mary Ann Erickson, 79, went home to Jesus Tuesday, January 25th, 2022 around noon at Avera St. Mary’s Hospital due to a battle with cancer, a visitation will be Monday from 10am-11am at First Methodist Church with funeral services at 11:00 at the First Methodist Church with Pastor Greg. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Pierre.

Mary Ann was born December 27th, 1942 in Pierre to Fredrick and Mary (Burger) Stertz. She attended school in Solon Springs of Wisconsin and later worked as a benefit specialist for the state of South Dakota. While living in Pierre she met the love of her life and married Melvin Erickson on April 7th, 1962. She became a member of the United Methodist Church and attended many bible studies. In 1993 she obtained a foster license which was one of her greatest achievements.
Survivors include a daughter Melanie Rowell of Dell Rapids, SD and two sons Ronald and Keith Erickson of Pierre, SD; one sister Elaine Scott of Ft. Pierre, SD, two brothers Raymond Stertz of Pierre , SD, and Lee Stertz of Minneapolis, Minnesota, 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Fredrick Stertz, sister Katherine Stertz, brothers Frederick Jr (Bud) Stertz, granddaughter Kristin (Sissy) Rowell, brother Henry (Hank) Stertz, mother Mary (Burger) Stehlik, beloved husband Melvin (Mel) Erickson, sister Delores Wells-Hargens, and brother Benjamin (Ben) Stertz.
