Beverly P. Bagola, 75, of Eagle Butte, started her journey to the spirit world on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at the Oahe Manor, Gettysburg.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. MST, Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Pioneer Hall, Dupree. Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Epsicopal Cemetery, Iron Lightning, SD. A wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 4, 2022, at the hall with a procession from the 2-mile east of town at 4:00 p.m.
Beverly Pearl Clown was born February 27, 1946, to Edward and Amy (Talks) Clown at Old Cheyenne Agency, SD. She grew up in the Iron Lightning Community and 6 miles west. She went to school in Dupree and later Cheyenne Eagle Butte where she stayed in the girl’s dorms from 1961-1964. Some of her roommates included Marcy (Black Bull) Miner, Sharon (Mandan) Jiron, and Hilda Jewett.
When Beverly turned 18, she met her cowboy, Melvin Bagola and they soon married. They welcomed two children: Gerald and Julie. They made their home in Dupree and helped raise their niece, Mary Bagola (Eva’s daughter). Throughout Beverly’s life she took care of many young ones including her relatives Wilbur Dupris children when they lost their mother to cancer. Aldred, Ethan, Ray, Shirley, and Valerie lived with her and their Lala Ed and Grandma Amy. Beverly also babysat for many children; one family was Laverne Long’s children and many other numerous children and young adults who were welcomed into her home. Beverly welcomed Craig Dean in 1975, Lester Delbert in 1983, and became a foster parent to a little boy named Sylven who captured her heart.
Beverly worked in various places and also took care of her parents. When you went to her home in Dupree, you were always fed before leaving. She could make the best baking powder biscuits. In 2015, Beverly started having memory problems and was admitted to a nursing home where she remained until she left on her journey to the spirit world.
Beverly is survived by her children and their families: Gerald (April) Bagola, and granddaughters: Ashlee Willis, Whitney, Noelle, Gabbi, and Natalia; Craig Clown, and grandsons: Camedon, Zathan “Washburn” Clown, and Kase Lawrence; Lester Clown, and grandson, Boston Clown; Sylven Larrabee and his family; daughter: Julie Bagola, granddaughter, Lisa Lee and great grandsons; sister, Edwina Bernard, and niece, Lisa Bernard; brothers: Delmar (Beverly) Clown Sr., nephews: Delmar Jr. and Brandon Clown, and niece, Dardi Lee; Floyd Clown Sr. and nephews: Kelly, Kyle, P’Tan, Floyd Clown Jr, and Mikey Little Wounded, and niece, Kacie Clown and son; Blaine Clown Sr. Family: nephews: Blaine Clown Jr., Doug War Eagle, Don Red Thunder; nieces, Sheila Red Thunder and Family, and Charlene Red Thunder and Family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Blaine Clown Sr.; and numerous other relatives.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Beverly’s arrangements.
