Myron “Mike” Niemiller, died at his residence in Hoven, SD on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at the age of 90.
Myron Eugene Niemiller, son of Lillian and Christian Niemiller, was born at Mobridge, SD on January 7, 1932. This is where he was raised and educated, graduating with the MHS Class of 1950. Mike, as he was well known, served his country in the United States Air Force, enlisted March 9, 1951. While serving, he was stationed in San Antonio, TX., Denver, Co., Savannah, GA., and upper Havford AFB in England. Mike married Beverly Ann Hutchinson on July 30, 1951 at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Denver. Following his honorable discharge from the USAF on November 2, 1953 they settled in Denver where Mike was self-employed in the heating business. In 1964 they purchased the Hoven Trustworthy Hardware Store in Hoven from Ben Mertes. They owned and operated the business until 1994 when they retired and sold the business to their son, Kurt. Beverly died August 23, 1995. On January 3,2002, Mike married Mary Rose Stuwe at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Hoven. Mary Rose died March 29, 2003. Mike continued to make his home in Hoven the rest of his life. His hobbies included golfing and playing cards.

Mike is survived by one brother, Gerald “CJ” Niemiller of Selby, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to Beverly and Mary Rose, Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Christian and Lillian; two sons—Michael on March 31, 1973 and Kurt on April 1, 2015; and four sisters–Ella Comeau, Ruth McKinnon, Irene Weatherson, and Fern Gohl.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 PM Friday, February 4, 2022 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Hoven, with Father Darin Schmidt, Celebrant. Interment, with military graveside rites by the John J. Peters American Legion Post No. 159, Hoven, SD, follows at the Church Cemetery. Organist will be Alice Simon and St. Anthony’s Catholic Church choir will sing “On Eagle’s Wings”, “You Are Mine”, “I Know That My Redeemer Lives”, “Song of Farewell”, and “How Great Thou Art”. Mass servers will be Mason Murphy and Jack Stuwe; Lector will be Brendan Murphy; and Offertory gift bearers will be Dannika Kaup and Rylee Kaup.
Visitation commences 12:30 PM Friday at the Church.
Casketbearers will be Allen Frost, Kyle Krueger, Ben Krueger, Darrell Griese, Chance Stuwe, and Matt Arbach all of Hoven.
Services are in care of Lien Funeral Home, Bowdle.
