Jeb Ford, age 52, of Chancellor, SD, formerly of Lemmon, SD, passed away in a motor vehicle accident near Parkston, SD, on Sunday, February 6, 2022.
Memorial services for Jeb will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022 at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Lemmon, SD. Pastor Tera Kossow will officiate with burial in the Rosebud Cemetery south of White Butte, SD.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon.
Jeb was born on May 5, 1969 in Hettinger, ND to Ronald Ford and Joan (Frerking) Pudwill. Jeb was raised in Lemmon, SD where he helped his father with his vet clinic and raising horses. He graduated from Lemmon High School in 1987.
After graduation Jeb joined the South Dakota National Guard and served for 14 years with the 211 and 854th Engineering Company out of Lemmon and the 1/163rd Armored Cavalry Regiment out of Billings, Montana. In 1988 he attended barber school in Billings, Montana. Jeb helped his grandfather Herman Frerking run his barber shop on the weekends in Lemmon, SD.
Jeb started his firefighter career with the Lemmon Fire Department in 1994-1995. In January of 1995 Jeb was hired on to the Sioux Falls Fire Department and served for 20 years, spending most of his time at Central station and Station 7. He was also one of the original Honor Guard members that started in the 2000s.
In August of 1999 Jeb’s Daughter, Cassidy Ford was born in Sioux Falls, SD. He spent many years following her around to different sporting and school events. He was a wonderful father. In 2002 Jeb moved to his acreage outside of Chancellor, SD and remained living there until his passing.
In 2015, Jeb retired from the Sioux Fall Fire Department due to medical injury. In 2015, He joined the Chancellor Fire Department and later became chief. He also was a part of the Parker Ambulance squad.
Jeb spent the remainder of his years with his family and friends, riding his Harley, target shooting, and barbering part time in Lennox, SD. He was a one of a kind person who left an impact on every person he met.
Jeb is survived by his daughter; Cassidy Ford, father and stepmother; Ronald and Charolette Ford, brother and sister; Nathan (Christina) Ford, Kristi (Rory Seim) Cox; niece and nephew; Hayden Ford and Ashley Sorensen; numerous cousins, friends, and brothers/sisters of the fire department and ambulance service.
He was preceded in death by his mother; Joan Pudwill; maternal grandparents Herman and Dorthy Frerking, paternal grandparents Ray and Lillian Ford; and nephew Aidan Ford.
