Funeral services for James P. Normile (Lawrence Wind), 30, of Mitchell formerly of Chamberlain, SD will be 10:00 am Friday, February 18, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fort Thompson with burial in Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery at Stephan, SD. Wake services will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fort Thompson, SD.
James Paul Normile was born Lawrence Miles Wind on August 31, 1991 to Lawrence C. Wind Jr. and Clarice M. (Track) Wind in Mitchell, SD. He traveled throughout South Dakota and the United States with his family until January of 2001 when he and his sister Suzie became a part of Mike and Mary Normile’s family. His adoption was finalized when he was around 12 years and at that time, he chose to change his name to James Paul Normile.
He attended school at Chamberlain, SD, participating in many school activities. He loved to play basketball, soccer, and bowl. He participated in the youth bowling league. He also loved to draw and listen to music. He later earned his GED.
James was blessed with two children Wakan and James who he loved very much. Throughout his life he worked various jobs.
James passed away on February 12, 2022 at Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 30 years. Gratefully sharing his life are his two sons Wakan and James; mother Clarice Wind and adopted parents Mike and Mary Normile; sisters Neva (Harold), Anna (Heath), Crystal (Ken); brother Arnold Hopkins; many nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, his father Lawrence Wind Jr., sister Suzie (Wind) Normile, brother Vilas Hopkins Jr., and nephew Anthony Gourneau.
