Funeral services for Willow Imogene Helper, 54, of McLaughlin will be at 11 AM, Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the McLaughlin Blue Gym. Burial will be at Good Shepherd Episcopal Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Family and friends will leave from the Shopko parking lot at 9:30 AM Saturday. Willow passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022 at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck.
Willow Imogene Helper was born to William and Mary Ann (Chasing Hawk) Helper on August 12, 1967.
Willow attended Little Eagle Grade school and later went on to McLaughlin High School. She was a kind and loving daughter, sister, mother and Grandmother. She was active and very intent on making positive decisions for the students while on the McLaughlin Indian Education board from which she several terms. She was also on the JOM Board for McLaughlin School for 6 years.
She worked for Bear Soldier Bingo for many years as a cashier then remained home to care for her family. She loved to visit relatives and always had a sense of humor that she got from her Dad who always teased. She loved being a foster parent to Remy.
She leaves behind her lifelong sparring partner and father of their children, Brian Yellow Earrings, her daughters Chelsea and Cassie, Willow’s Eldest daughter, Michelle Helper, step daughter, Constance, Grandchildren Hailee Little Eagle, Gavin Little Eagle, Keagon Brown Otter, Charlize Claymore, Damian Yellow Earrings, Jarik Yellow Earrings, Lucas Hayes, LaMarius Hayes, Sidney Claymore, Lenaya Hayes, great granddaughter, Janaya Autumn Farrell.
Her heart was broken at the loss of their only Son, Corey Yellow Earrings, who brought her great joy when he was part of the State Cross Country Team. Her life changed drastically when he left them.
Grateful to have shared her life are her siblings, Velma Chasing Hawk, Billie Jo Helper, Wilma (Jose Alvarado) Helper and brother William “Captain” Helper.
Willow is now with her family, her Grandparents, Leo and Elizabeth Chasing Hawk, Wallace and Julie Helper, her parents, William and Mary Ann Helper, Sister, Michelle Helper and Son, Corey Yellow Earrings.
